Muscle Energy Technique

Course Description:
This course is based on the techniques originally developed by R. O. Mitchell D. O and further developed by Sharon Weselfish-Giamatteo Ph. D. The technique utilizes specific body positioning and muscular contractions to achieve biomechanical changes in body function. The course will examine the Theory, Physiological Principles, Styles of Application and Treatment Protocols for various areas of the body.
 
Students will be able to perform the following:
1. Orthopedic screening for use in determining the primary area of restriction and contribution to other joint misalignments.
2. Locate and treat mechanical vertebral dysfunctions of the spine, rib cage, and pelvis
   
Additional Notes:
Please come dressed in loose comfortable clothing as this is a course with practical applications.
A lecture, demonstration, and group practice session format will emphasize the concepts of muscle contraction and its use in the treatment of joint and muscle dysfunction's.
Problem solving and integration with exercise principles will be emphasized.
